Warehouse v Sub Districts

Plunkett Cup 2019/20

20 October 2019 at Filmer Park

Representative players were treated to superb conditions at Filmer Park for the first game of the Plunket Cup v Sub Districts.

Skipper, Mitchell Munro, won the toss and chose to bowl. Subbies’ openers, Kumar and Wood, started carefully, guiding their team to 65 without loss at drinks; a great launchpad to accelerate in the next session. The loss of Woods on 70 did nothing to stem the flow of runs with Gunn joining Kumar to take 74 from 63 balls for the second wicket.

The introduction of Nathan Brown in the 30th over shifted the momentum. From 1/144, Sub Districts lost 8/73 as Brown picked up 3/19 and Pike 5/14, in his second spell, all from the same end.

The chase began well with Warehouse posting a 49 run opening stand via Ben Howard and Hayden Marks. The second wicket provided 29 but after that, the wheels fell off. 2/86 became all out 130 as Warehouse capitulated over the next 15 overs. Fair to say there is room for improvement between now and the next fixture v Logan.
