Warehouse Rep v Victorian XI

30 June 2023 at Hubner Park

On a bitterly cold night 🥶🥶🥶🥶 a Warehouse XI took on a touring Victorian side in a T20 under lights at Hubner Park, Park Ridge. Warehouse skipper, Stevo Rees won the toss and decided to have a bat while players could still feel it in their hands.

A disastrous start had Warehouse 5/35 after 9 overs with opening bowlers Marcus Murphy and Callum Tout picking up two wickets each in superb opening spells. A 50 partnership between Matt Taviani and Fabian Roberts restored some respectively; Taviani bringing up a superb 50 from 40 balls, before falling for 55 at the end of the 17th. A six off the last ball by Santosh Nistala took the score to a reasonable 110 on a tricky wicket.

The Victorian start was a little better, but a double wicket maiden by Brad Ilott in the 6th over set the cat amongst the pigeons. Ilott and Nistala bowled well in tandem restricting the scoring to just 28 from their combined 8 overs; Ilott picking up a third wicket to finish with an excellent return of 3/11 from his four. An excellent C&B by Luke Ronday in the 14th made it 4/57 leaving the Victorian side 53 to get from 38 balls. That was the last joy for Warehouse though. A match winning partnership of 56 from 35 balls between Indika Massalagge (46) and Joel Crook (16) overhauled the target with four balls to spare.

The match was played in excellent spirit between the two sides.

Big Thanks to the Hubner Park faithful who braved the conditions and provided a sumptuous BBQ dinner.
