Wanderers v St Patrick’s College
24 January, 2019
Curlew Park
Skipper Lee Watts won the toss and elected to bat in hot conditions at Curlew Park, Shorncliffe. Byron Gale and Sheldon Stackpole posted a solid 47 run opening stand, then Palam Singh joined Byron for a 56-run partnership to further strengthen Wanderers’ position. An entertaining 50 by Jack Hogarth featuring reverse sweeps and just about everything else, added a spark and propelled Wanderers to 217 from their 40.
Spin bowling opened the innings; Brad Ilott and Palam Singh combining to give up just 20 runs from the first 10 overs and each picking up a wicket. The two “Matts”, Warner and Grant picked up two wickets each (which included a stunning catch at slip by Hogarth off Warner) to reduce St Pat’s to 7/71, before St Pat’s Player of the Match, Ben Buchler partnered with Luke Trembearth for an undefeated 52 run partnership. St Pat’s completing their 40 at 9/159.
Thanks to St Pat’s for hosting.
