Wanderers v Marist College Ashgrove

19 February 2020

Marist College Ashgrove

In very hot and humid conditions, Wanderers took on Marist College at Ashgrove in a T20.

Old boys, Michael Toolis, Paddy Cotter, Josh Neill and Haydn Whyte all turned out for Wanderers v their alma mater and all made handy contributions.

A solid 79 run opening partnership from 74 balls between Michael Toolis and Josh Neill laid the platform for a 50 from 33 balls between Paddy Cotter and Josh Durkin at the end of the innings. A final score of 147 from Wanderers looking competitive on a slow wicket and spongy outfield with boundaries hard to come by.

The Marist top order suffered a set back with a run out in the first over coming from a true throw from Haydn Whyte to James Girolami. The incoming Tom Collier then partnered with Cooper Mackie in a 46-ball, 58 run 2nd wicket partnership. After a couple of dropped catches, Josh Durkin finally held one to dismiss Mackie off the accurate Haydn Whyte. Meanwhile Tom Collier made the best of his chance keeping the scoreboard ticking over. At the 15 over mark, when play was called for bad light and lightning. Marist were 8 runs ahead of the DLS par score; Collier not out 63 from 45 balls.

Thanks to all for their contribution to the day.
