Macgregor Mystics v UCC Brisbane

Warehouse Cricket 2021/22

Round 4 Sunday A3

7 November 2021 at Marchant Park 5

Contrasting conditions at Marchant Park 5 from the “oven'“ that was C J Greenfield a couple of weeks ago.

Allauddin Mohammed won the toss and only hesitated for show, before electing to bowl; a decision which proved fruitful. Mystics did not need to wait long for a wicket. After being smashed for four second ball, Luis Hermida got revenge immediately with an out-swinger that took the edge for Deepak Salgotra to take a fine catch, low down, at slip. The very next ball, to the new batsman, was almost the exact duplicate; Deepak juggling this time, but finally holding on to put Luis on a hat-trick! A wild swing by the new batsman, drew 😮s and 😱s from the fielders as the bat only just jammed down in time. A top edge from the first ball of Allauddin’s second over was easily pouched by Simerjot Dhaliwal, to make it three wickets in five balls; UCC 3/8.

Five runs in the 4th over was followed by a pair of wicket maidens to Allauddin and Luis in the 5th and 6th; 5/13. A couple of overs later, a double bowling change brought about more wickets. Sabahat Mahmood plucked one out of the air at square leg off Aman, then Luis Hermida took a blinder off Simerjot, at long on, overhead and tip-toeing along the boundary; 7/18. Wickets in both of the following overs from Aman and Simerjot made it 9/20, then in the 14th over, Allauddin positioned himself well under a top edge off Simerjot and took a well-judged catch to bring the UCC innings to a close.

Zubair and Sabahat polished off the 27 target in just 7.5 overs and we all got home in time for lunch!
