A gorgeous day, an immaculate ground and a great game of cricket for the start of the first OD round of Men’s First Grade. Toombul won the toss and elected to bowl. From 3/58 in the 15th over, a 4th wicket partnership of 120 from 144 balls between Reuben Burger and Grayson Jones provided the platform for a competitive 252.
In the chase, Toombul kept pace with the required run rate, but lost wickets regularly and were in a spot of bother at 5/106 in the 27th over. Skipper Lachie Hearne found good support in Brandon Honeybrook in a 6th wicket, run-a-ball partnership of 111. Harmon Sandhu provided some hope when he had Hearne caught by Sidhu in the 45th, but Honeybrook, who had a life before reaching 50, took Toombul to within a half dozen runs before falling in the 48th; the target overhauled later in the same over.
