Wynnum Manly v Sandgate-Redcliffe
R1 - First Grade Women
15 September 2024 at Bill Albury Oval
Another beautiful day at Bill Albury for the start of the One-Dayers in Women’s First Grade.
Sandgate-Redcliffe won the toss and elected to bat. A sensational 107 from 53 balls by Georgia Voll included 13 fours and 4 sixes. Voll partnered for 60 with Tess Cooper (26), 42 with Caitlin Mair (8) and 49 with Mia Croucamp (14), guiding Sandgate to 5/162 in the 20th over. A 47 run cameo from Darcy Johnson provided further impetus to the innings, before Wynnum struck back to bundle out the Sandgate lower order and restrict the score to 241. Amreen Kahlon came in for some punishment early from Voll but came back to take 4/62 from 10. Samantha Smithers picked up 4/41 from 9.1 overs, including the prize wicket of Voll.
A 3rd wicket 101 from 138 between Catlin King and Grace Collins had Wynnum looking good, but the fall of King at 3/145 precipitated a collapse of 8/34 in 13 overs; Wynnum falling short by 62 runs. Georgia Voll with 3/15 from 10 overs and Jess Cremin 4/42 from 9.5 were the chief destroyers.
