St Paul’s School

Another warm day, but thankfully there were breezes to take the edge off and apart from some sprinkles, the rain skirted around us.

A 73-run opening partnership by Matt Grant (60) and Christian Murphy (32) together with a solid 50 by Sheldon Stackpole set Wanderers on the path to a big score. Some big hitting cameos by Matt Taviani then Matt Ruhle and Daniel Mitchell down the order resulted in 247 from the allocated 45 overs.

The St. Paul’s openers, Lachlan Milner and Jacob Barry, frustrated the Wanderers’ bowlers for 19 overs in a 53 run opening stand before skipper, Troy Robbins and Leg-spinner, Guyan Gunasekera, broke through in successive overs. St Paul’s batsmen continued to resist and showed some strong defence. The final stand of 35 between Lachlan Bird and Player of the match, Ben Skinner (20 from 22 to go with 1/38 from 8 overs), elevated the score to 147 at the close.
