2017 Nudeballers - Goldfield Ashes

#POOINSINK Pre-Ashes Analysis

Last year we finished 48th winning 2 games with 658 runs and 25 wickets.

Friday's team: Big Mick Fins 11. Finished 24th with 626 runs and 23 wickets.

Saturday: Game of runs. Finished 36th with 676 runs and 29 runs.

Sunday: Spuds 11. no listings on them playing last year!

Keeping in mind we had our worst day in recent history on day 2 last year. I'm sure we are all very keen to turn it around this year.
Big Mick Finns 11 have a lot of players most of us know playing for them but let this be clear to all, we go for the kill we do not muck around when playing them. We leave the drinking until later and get the W on the board first.

CHIEF KING Pre-Ashes Analysis

Just to add to Taylor's great research.

Big Mick Finns have only lost 1 game in 3 years finishing 42nd, 24th and 24th in the past 3 years. They take an average of 21 wickets to our average of 26. We also have a higher average runs scored with our 641.66 vs their 593.33. This doesn't mean we take them lightly we must put the foot to their throats early and inflict loss on them! Game of runs last year was their first year so there is no more info than what Taylor has provided. They took all bar 1 wicket so we must put our heads down and build a total and not produce last years day two performance. Spuds we don't even need to worry about them because Russ won't be there to bring us down. We will rock up they will forfeit because we don't have him playing.  Make sure you prepare well in the next 10 days boys. I expect a min of a 6 pack a night!  Watch the big bash/ODI's and learn from Chris Lynn, that running isn't necessary to score big runs.

Game 1 (Match 25) v Big Mick Finn’s XI

The one with “me car, me car!”

20 January 2017 at CT Airport Reserve Field 40

Batting first, Big Mick Finn’s XI 9/164; 35 overs; Nudeballers 9/191; 26.3 overs

Nudeballers Win by 6 wickets in 21.4 overs

Although Big Mick’s kept up a pretty good run rate in the first half of the innings, wickets, fell regularly and in clumps. By over 17, Big Mick’s were 7/99 with wickets to Eagle (2), Cliche (2), 3 Questions and Newbie 1 each and the first coming from a run-out by Anal. To their credit Big Mick’s held out for their full 35 overs; the last wicket undefeated in a 48-run partnership from 79 balls.

Nudeballers raced to the target in the 22nd over, Chief King recording a 17-ball 50 (and threatening Eagle’s car), then lost 5/26 in five overs to bring the innings to a premature close in the 27th over.

Play of the Day: Eagle for calling out "mecar, mecar"

Game 2 (Match 26) v Game of Runs

The one where Trust Me nearly broke

21 January 2017 at CT Airport Reserve Field 43

Batting first, Game of Runs All out 121; 20 overs; Nudeballers 2/149; 20 overs.

Nudeballers win by 8 wickets in 17.1 overs

Chief King’s pre-match analysis:

Game of runs last year was their first year so there is no more info than what Taylor has provided. They took all bar 1 wicket so we must put our heads down and build a total and not produce last years day two performance.

Game 2 was a 20/20. Game of Runs were in trouble early thanks to Uncle Bob who knocked the stumps over three times in a devastating two-over opening spell. Trust Me chimed in with a wicket a couple of overs later, making it 4/33 in the 6th over. A 34-run partnership was brought to an end by Half-A-Night thanks to a catch by Shut-the-f@#$-up, then Chief King took a couple to make it 7/88 with five to go. A double wicket maiden in the 8th by Shut-the-f@#$-up, hosed down any chance of big score, but Game of Runs did manage to add 19 from the last two with Trust Me grabbing a run out from the last ball of the innings.

In reply, #pooinsink blasted a 30-ball 50 in a partnership of 79 with Shut-the-f@#$-up at the top of the order. A couple of quick wickets in the 13th and 15th overs did not really interrupt the momentum as Shut-the-f@#$-up And Trust Me saw the Nudies past the target and beyond in an undefeated partnership of 55 from 35 balls.

Play of the Day: Trust Me courage running twos on bung knees

Game 3 (Match 27) v Spud’s Spankers

The one with the “69”

22 January 2017 at CT Airport Reserve Field 45

Batting first, Spud’s Spankers All out 69; 16.2 overs, Nudeballers 2/205; 20 overs

Nudeballers win by 9 wickets in 6.4 overs

A bit of a non-event this one as the Spankers didn’t really want to be there on the last day.

The Spankers started brightly and were 2/47 in the 9th over before the wheels fell off. They lost 7/22 in the next 8 overs to be all out for 69; the lowest opposition score to date. Chief King and Rum Pig (making his Nudeballers debut) picked up 6/7 between them in the last 26 balls. #pooinsink and Shut-the-f@#$-up picked up two each.

Uncle Bob and Cliche overhauled the total in the 7th over on their way to a record opening stand of 92 and individual 50s. Batting at 3, Trust Me also reached 50. The Nudeballers calling the game off after 20 overs.

Play of the Day: Half-A-Night for kicking the ball back into Newbie's hands
