Wanderers v Brisbane State High School

27 February 2019

Fursden Rd., Carina

Wanderers were treated to a breezy and overcast day - a pleasant change - for the contest v Brisbane State High at Fursden Rd. Carina.

The Wanderers innings began with a flurry of boundaries from Stackpole and Gale; a partnership of 53 in just 6.3 overs. This provided an optimum platform for BSHS old boy, Dakota Rogers. Dakota was the last man out for 119, plundering the bowling for 18 boundaries, 10 of which were maximums. Nick Boller provided valuable support in a partnership of 88 for the 8th wicket which guided Wanderers to a formidable 258 from 49.4 overs.

Will Conroy, Keegan O’Donnell and Alex Maynard picked up two wickets each for State High.

Wanderers’ bowling effort began strongly with Troy Robbins and Palam Singh very stingy with the runs.

After drinks, Sam Hatherall and Sam Geyer took advantage of some short Wanderers bowling, rocking onto the back foot and pulling beautifully over the boundary. Their partnership realized 74 from just 46 balls and dragged BSHS back into contention. However, some very tidy bowling from Sheldon Stackpole and Todd Anderson, broke the partnership and cleaned up the tail, the pair taking 5/21 between them. BSHS out for 200.

Sam Hatherall was named Player of the Match for State High.

Thank you to Sandor and State High for their hospitality.
