MacGregor Mystics v Brisbane Stallions

Warehouse Winter 2021

Round 3 T20 Group A

20 June 2021 at Kianawah Park 5

An absolutely glorious day for cricket. Stallions won the toss and chose to bat first. Although the first wicket fell to Hussain in just the 3rd over, some wayward bowling had already contributed 12 extras to the score of 20.

The bowling tightened over the next few overs and catches at cover to Saddam Turk off Allauddin Mohammed and Irfan Ahmad Cheema, restricted the score to 69 at the 11 over mark.

A 20 ball, 41 run partnership for the 4th wicket, was brought undone by Harish Kumar via a good catch to Zubair Khan behind the stumps. The platform had been laid for a big finish and it was. Stallions threw the bat with wickets in hand and added 55 more from the last 34 balls to finish on 8/165. Hussain claimed a second wicket while the evergreen Allauddin added two to his tally and Cheema grabbed the last. Deepak Salgotra and Taimoor Shaukhat contributed in the field with a couple of good outfield catches.

Despite the early loss of Deepak, Harish exploded into action in the chase, bludgeoning 65 from just 34 balls and setting Mystics up with a real chance to run down the target. Saddam provided excellent support in a partnership of 60 for the second wicket. Javed Abro picked up where Harish left off, smashing 42 from 28 and when he departed with 13 balls to go, 19 runs were needed for victory. Some lusty hitting from Gurlal Singh, had the Mystics in it right up to the last ball, but... it was not to be. Stallions home by 5 runs.

Bad luck lads.
